Name: - Nuriel, Angel of Fire; Ashley Kenneth (Human Alias)

Loyalty: Heaven

Appearance:
Angelic Pure Form:
In Nuriel's pure form, she is a being forged of metal and flame, seemingly created from a forge to serve as a sentinel of the Lord. From beneath the countless plates of armor that form her shell, one can see the ever rolling flame that is within shine through. Embers constantly drift from within as if the fire is consuming some unseen object. All of her body is covered in these plates except for her helmet, which opens up at where the face should be to reveal the fire in all its glory. She is capable of sending impossibly hot flames shooting from her faceplate into the bodies of her foes with precision. In this form, she possesses a tail of metal, which drips with fire from the tip.
On her back, she has two wings that are made up of the same metal as her armor, so perfectly crafted to look like feathers one could only tell their true materiel if they were to touch them. From the edges of the feathers, the wings trail flame in Nuriel's wake. She possesses a proto-halo, a half circle of metal which floats above her head some inches away. When in battle, it ignites into flame, creating a full halo of fire. Lastly, Nuriel wields a blade of the finest craftsmanship, etched with runes proclaiming her loyalty to her Father and her devotion to the Great Fire of Creation. Unlike many of her siblings, and seemingly strange for an angel of her domain, it is not covered in heavenly flame. However, the mere touch of the sword to any surface, even the most hardened stone, will cause the object in question to burst into flames of the same nature as what makes up her body's interior.
Angelic Perfect Form:
In Nuriel's perfect form, she appears to be a dragon of myth, a great wyrm seemingly made up of freshly formed obsidian. From beneath her rock-like scales, the bright orange of flame can be seen just underneath, as if trying to escape the confines of her body. Over her body, Nuriel's wears armor apparently forged from the same metal as her pure form's body, which adds to her imposing appearance. She has two immense wings of rough black hide, tipped with obsidian ridges, that trail fire behind her. Wherever she walks, Nuriel leaves behind massive footprints seared into the surface of the ground, and can often ignite flammable surfaces as she moves.
In this form, she also possesses a halo. It is a ring of burning flame that rings her head, which drips liquid fire from itself. In addition, Nuriel can use this form to breath rolling waves of fire from her mouth, that scorches almost any surface she touches.
Human Form:In her human form, Nuriel appears to be a young human girl in her early to mid twenties. She stands just barely at five foot one, and is built exceptionally light. Nuriel has a very cute, spunky look to her, with short reddish brown hair that comes down to just above her chin. Her eyes are a bright amber color, and she has a rather charming near constant smile on her face. At first glance, she appears to completely innocent, though as one observes her longer she seems to have a rather mischievous demeanor. On the back of her left hand, she has a small, unusual looking burn that looks almost as if it is a symbol. It is in fact the Enochian rune for fire.
Clothing wise, Nuriel wears attire that wouldn't be out of place on any punk street kid. Usually, this includes a hooded sweatshirt with the sleeves shoved up past her elbows and any combination of layered tees beneath, battered jeans with rips in the knees, and thigh high socks of various designs. Occasionally, she'll wear a ball cap bearing the logo of the New Jersey Inferno, one of the several professional football teams in the city. She is rarely seen without a pair of thick rimmed glasses with a built in HUD, and a pair of black fingerless gloves with orange stitching. On her person, she keeps an alarming amount of lighters, matches, and blades; enough to make even the slowest security officer quite distressed.
Of particular note is the fact that her human form constantly smells ever so faintly of the scent of burning wood.

Personality:
Nuriel is a cheerful, lovable person, who enjoys interacting with anyone who'll stand still long enough for her to catch up to. She comes across as rather eccentric thanks to her obsession with flame, and she often will drift off into moments of day dreaming when discussing her favorite thing. Despite her mind's tendency to wander, the angel can be quite useful when it comes to coming up with unusual solutions to difficult problems, at least as long as she is able to be focused on the task at hand for a long enough period of time. Though often difficult, those few angels who manage to get her to stay in one place for more than five minutes will often find themselves staring at a fixed problem, and most likely a few burned down trees. She enjoys helping those around her, as it makes her happy to see her comrades pleased, and takes great joy out of being thanked for her service. Considering she hasn't had much opportunity to use her abilities against the Host's enemies thanks to the terms of the Arrangement, Nuriel jumps at any chance to make herself useful to her comrades, no matter how annoying the task might be to complete.
Being an Authority, part of Nuriel's duties involve being a frontline warrior in the Heavenly Host, and as a result she is quite capable of handling herself on the field. She takes a certain satisfaction out of fighting, whether it be a duel to the death against a member of the Fallen or a simple sparring match against her comrades at arms. Indeed, the only thing Nuriel enjoys more than watching flames burn is smacking things with her blade. Her comrades often find her enthusiasm for fighting to be amusing, especially since she doesn't particularly enjoy actually killing her foes. For many warriors, its the act of the kill that gives them the thrill. For Nuriel, its all about the dance, both of body and blade. Fittingly, she fights much like fire itself, burning fast and never staying still.
When it comes to dealing with the members of the Fallen, Nuriel is quite conflicted. Having been present during the entirety of the Fall, Nuriel knows each and every one of the Fallen quite well, and was close friends with many of them, including several of Sammael's closest agents. When she is forced to slay an enemy, as she has been several times over millenia, Nuriel is filled with great sadness at the loss of her brothers and sisters, and will often offer up a small prayer to her Father to ask for her foe to be granted forgiveness in death. At the same time however, Nuriel finds it hard to have civil discussions with her Fallen siblings as she still feels the sting of their betrayal. However, one angel's fall affected her more than any other: Sammael. The former Archangel had been something of a personal hero for Nuriel, and when she witnessed him joyfully slaying his former comrades, she had been devastated. However, when he raised his blade against her was when the true feelings of betrayal kicked in. Saved only by the intervention of the Archangel Azrael, Nuriel realized that the Archangel she had idolized had fallen further than could be redeemed.
In Azrael's organization, she's often picked to take on missions that take a delicate balance of finesse and brute strength, but not very much subtlety. In fact, he usually keeps her as far away as possible from the high stakes game of speed chess he plays with Sammael, because she will inevitably cause it to explode or otherwise ignite into chaos. However, when the moves have been made, and its time to make sure the opponent knows it, that's where she comes in.
History:
Nuriel was created alongside her fellow angels at the dawn of time, with the intended purpose of serving as the guardian of the power of fire and a defender of the Silver City. Placed under the command of the Archangel Sariel, she spent countless millenia in Heaven and on Earth, helping to tend to the fires of creation during God's creation of the Earth alongside many of her subordinates. Much of her early life was relatively insignificant however, as there was nobody to attack her Father's most holy home, nor much fire that required her direct interference. It was, however, a satisfying life, as she spent untold years training under Sariel in swordplay while interacting with her fellows while they waited for their Father's grand plan to unfold. When it finally did, and He placed the first Man Adam and the first Woman Eve in the Garden of Eden, Nuriel looked down upon them with happiness, for she knew her time was soon to be near. With Humanity created, it would be her job to ensure fire never took them in their garden.
However, before that could come to be, Nuriel and her brothers and sisters were faced with a betrayal on an unforseen scale. A band of renegade angels, led by her beloved older brothers, Lucifer and Sammael, turned upon their fellows in a vicious and unprovoked assault, slaughtering untold dozens of her siblings before they could react. In what would soon become known as the War in Heaven, Nuriel was forced to take up arms and defend the Silver City she had sworn to protect from the very angels she had loved for thousands of years. For hours, she fought alongside her mentor Sariel against her traitorous brethern, slaying all who dared betray their sacred oaths and their glorious Father. At one point however, Nuriel was seperated from Sariel after being ordered to intercept a band of Fallen who had been making considerable headway in their assault. Completing her assigned objective with little trouble, Nuriel made to return to Sariel's side, only to see her mentor cut down by Sammael, the second of the Archangels of Death.
Over the years, Nuriel had developed something of an admiration for her older brother that passed the realm of mere appreciation. To Nuriel, the Archangel exemplified the traits that any good angel should have, working tirelessy to continue their Father's will whole galaxies away from Sol. And even though his brother Azrael possessed the more prestigious domain, Sammael still worked, never complaining, always working. Nuriel could truly appreciate such dedication to the cause, and idolized Sammael. To watch him slay the angel who had taught Nuriel everything she knew about warfare in single combat caused her to cry out in anguish. Rushing ahead of her fellows and ignoring the shifting form of Sariel's rended soul, the angel chased after the withdrawling Archangel in order to extract an explanation. When she finally caught up to him, Sammael offered only his blade to her heart, and attempted to cut her down. Taken aback by the action, she would have been cut down, had the sword of the Archangel Azrael not intercepted the stroke and turned away the blade. Told to withdrawl, she did so in shock and defeat, and proceeded to head to fight elsewhere.
Over the years since the betrayal of the Fallen and their subsequent damnation to Hell, Nuriel has spent the years tending to the flames of Earth, keeping humankind warm in the cold and their world lit in the dark. It was a busy life, as Nuriel went about her work, guarding humanity on Earth, guarding the Silver City in Heaven, and tending fire everywhere. So it was throughout all of history. Her services were always needed, even as humanity grew ever more advanced, as they always managed to come back to fire in the end regardless of the new ways of life they created. Despite the betrayal of a good portion of her family, she was happy.
When Lucifer came to God with his proposal, Nuriel was one of the angels present at the creation of the terms, standing by Azrael's side as he was chosen for the task of leading Heaven's forces within Chorazin. Since the birth of the Lifeline, she has been inside Chorazin, assisting Azrael and the Host wherever she can. Because the two sides trapped in the city have kept from open warfare, much of Nuriel's time has been spent performing oddjobs where she can for more relevant angels. While not working, she has spent long hours integrating herself in human society, keeping low until Azrael calls for her services. In the past two years, things have begun to grow more and more tense, and with the appearance of Nephilim and the continuation of the war against the Tainted, Nuriel has finally been reactivated by Azrael and given assignments. Tasked with watching out for the Nephilim and open operations by Sammael, Nuriel readies herself to take on her foes, and finally start the fighting she's been waiting twenty years to start.
