CBox Name: Sumashira

Name: Shansmaer, the Angel of Chance (human: Shaun Sedrick Meyers)
Order: Seraphim
Loyalty: Heaven
Member Group: Angel
Place of Residence: New Jersey District, Zone 6
Appearance:
Angels and demons have three separate forms that they can inhabit at any given time:
Angelic Pure Form:As with any Seraph, Shansmaer has six wings. These wings are a bit more jagged than most angels' wings, a result of battles with many battles with demons that he should not really have fought. He has six eyes, as well, shining the purest blue and glowing in the long ovular mask that covers what his face would be. He appears almost entirely coated in armor, though from the neck down the armor seems a bit less opaque, showing glowing, fiery veins and organ-like masses in his body and silvery bones all throughout him. He has no legs; he seems to merely fizzle out and blend with the ground or levitate in the air. His hands are entirely energy. The right arm is nearly always a hand, and the left can be formed into any weapon, though his choice is a sword. From the base of his neck and collarbone rise a tall metallic collar. He was made to sing praise to God, and his voice in this form is beautiful and melodic; he nearly always speaks in rhyme and in a cheerful tone in this form, regardless of the message.
Angelic Perfect Form:In Chinese culture, dragons are often seen as lucky. He is, in fact, a luck dragon - or, rather, just a chance dragon. He maintains the six wings of the Seraphim, but in this form he has only two eyes on his head and one very large one at the end of his tail. His tail constantly moves to seek out all the ever-changing variables of life. He maintains the same basic color scheme of his pure form, but instead in dragon form. The jagged scales around his chest and neck are more of a pulsing fiery-gold color, as are many of the veins and such throughout his body, but his scales are less translucent in this form, so the bones can only be seen if light is being shone upon him. In this form as well, he has a lovely voice, but it is of a deeper octave and can change to more menacing of a tone if need be.
Human Form:Shaun Sedrick Meyers is about 43 human years old, and he looks pretty damn good for his age, thanks to being, you know, a heavenly being. He tries to blend with the crowd as best as he can; he does not want to be looked upon by human society as an undesirable variable or outlier, such as one that must be removed. He has dark brown hair, usually styled in a messy but decent sort of way, and all around his face on his chin, jawline, and upper lip there is stubble, like a constant five o'clock shadow. He usually has a smile on his face (and what a broad and dazzling smile it it), but there is often a very calculating and contemplative look in his eyes as he takes in all his surroundings. He considers every single aspect of life quite quickly, since chance is his game. He wears business casual clothing most often in the form of polo shirts, nice jeans and jackets of the expensive and nice variety. He's a man of wealth, but he does little more than look good in that instance.
Shaun is often seen with his wife, Carly Meyers, a tall and slender woman with short golden-brown hair spotted with leopard rosettes. She's a Transfigured, but it was little more than a physical alteration of her eyes and hair.

Personality:
In the pure form, Shansmaer is mostly peaceful, kind, and calm. He sings praises and finds joy in nearly everything, even in the bad things. He may only speak in rhyme, and his voice is only happy and melodic, regardless of the message. When it comes to the protection of God's throne, he can fight remarkably well and will happily lay his life down for its protection. He is a graceful and swift fighter, as though dancing to some strange song that only other Seraph can hear. It is in this form that he can so greatly alter the odds of winning or losing something, simply by changing the path of one's life to that direction. He has wonderful foresight and can nudge anyone in the proper direction to get the desired result.
His perfect form is a bit less graceful and happy. He's serpentine by nature, making him very protective (and violently so) of anything which he deems his own to protect. Though he still seems to dance in battle, he has more weight to throw around and prefers to use that to his advantage than precision and grace. He is always moving his tail and glancing around, searching for each and every factor to affect probability in his favor or in the favor of a particular being. Being a "luck dragon", he can still change fate, but it's a bit more difficult in this form since he can still be considered a "physical" entity and luck is not always in the physical world. He can be very bold and invasive at times, being a bit of a gambler since his tough skin can make him harder to hurt. He likes to take chances and see how things turn out for him. He likes to roll with the punches and learn as life goes along.
His human form, known as Shaun, shows many attributes of both of these forms. He is a bit of a gambler and enjoys being spontaneous and risky, though his uncanny knowledge of probability and learning from past mistakes keeps him from being killed constantly. He is very protective of things that are his, such as his wife, but he does not become overbearingly protective; he prefers to earn his blessings rather than force something to belong to him. He truly is a wizard with chance: he can throw out statistics like nobody's business, and he enjoys watching jaws drop when he gambles and wins everything. His ability to bend the odds to his will is almost eliminated in this form, but the ability to read the probability of the world like a book remains. He can used knowledge of chance to his advantage in order to know what to invest his time and money in and what to avoid. He is incredibly loving; he is an open Christian, but being as wealthy as he is, he can afford much protection from terrorists for it.
His wife, Carly, is a believer as well, and is completely unaware of Shaun's position as an Angel of God; he never lies to her, but sometimes he is forced to omit the truth in order to be with her. Together, the two of them maintain a healthy relationship with each other and God; furthermore, most of their monthly income goes to various churches struggling to stay afloat in this wicked city. Shaun always gives back whatever is given to him in some way. Overall he's merely a very good-natured man with a wild sense of humor and a knack for kicking ass at poker.
Shaun and Carly invest greatly in stocks and such. It turned out surprisingly well, despite the Arrangement having occurred. They aren't exactly the most wealthy people in Chorazin, but they have enough to get along well in life. Shaun is also the co-owner of a bank in New Jersey, and his wife is a bank-teller there.
History:
Shansmaer was created to protect and keep the throne of God; it was a long time ago, though he was not among the first angels created. He was an angel of luck and fortune, a master of bending the odds to the will of God in order to achieve whatever result was desired. He enjoyed singing praises to God as he kept the throne, and up until Lucifer fell, many of the heavenly host sang with him. When the war between the soon-to-be Fallen and the heavenly host broke out, Shansmaer found his serpentine characteristics becoming more prominent; Lucifer and the other Fallen had become a threat to the throne, and he wanted nothing more than to crush them before they could seize it from God. Unfortunately, Shansmaer was not created for battle; While he was graceful and quick - and powerful and difficult to injure in his perfect form, which is best for battling - he was unable to do much but charge through headfirst and hope luck was on his side.
As it happened, luck was on his side. He survived tussles with many of his former brothers, though much to the detriment of his six wings, and Lucifer and his followers were damned to Hell. Shansmaer found his life fairly normal from then on, merely continuing to defend and keep the throne of God in good condition. He watched the happenings of Earth and directed the paths of humans to whatever way luck would have them, all to the will of God. Really, probability was a wonderful thing, and Shansmaer enjoyed his abilities. Though misfortune had such an awful name, Shansmaer appreciated every variable, good or bad. It helped to expand upon one's life and shape them in many ways. They wouldn't know it, but bad luck was really very good for them.
Life continued like this until the deal was struck; Shansmaer volunteered to enter Chorazin on behalf of the angels, and before Cira was even born he began to integrate his way into the society of Chorazin. It was a strange transition from heaven to earth - especially a city this wicked - but he found his home among the gamblers, helping those who worshiped God to succeeded while letting those who didn't blow their money. After all, the easiest way to find God was when you had nothing left. It was, in fact, one of these people who had nothing left who so suddenly caught Shansmaer's human heart and captured it with love. She had recently found God after wasting everything with gambling and drugs. Shansmaer found her in her stages of recovery; he could feel that chance had been turning in her favor, and Shaun found it admirable that she had recovered from it so well.
Shaun found himself delighted in Carly Lynn Burkhov's presence; he used his human form mostly to see her. He was about 22 at the time of his meeting her, and she was 20 - not old enough for most places, but who really cared anymore, anyways? They bumped into each other frequently, as luck would have it, and as Carly got closer to God, she also got closer to Shaun. Shansmaer reported his human love for Carly to Azrael and, while the Archangel showed some disdain for it, he allowed their relationship to continue. At last, after about two years, the barrier went up, with Shaun at 24 and Carly at 22. Five years went by - the first ones full of complete and utter chaos and panic - and it was then that the celestial beings realized the repercussions of putting humans in a heavenly box. Humans were becoming Transfigured, and Shansmaer only fully noticed the extent of this when his own darling Carly began going through transformations.
Shansmaer was surprised by the sheer chance of this, but his love for Carly only grew because of how strong she stayed through it. Shaun married her at 29, and the next 14 years went by smoothly. Shansmaer / Shaun now go through their daily lives just doing as they must, though Shansmaer feels guilty for having to hide his true self from the woman he loves.
Roleplay Example:
It was about time the angel had gotten back to work; he'd gotten much too complacent and comfortable in his daily human life, and that was not alright. As soon as Shansmaer had reported to Azrael that he felt the wheel of fate turning in the favor of the demons, the Archangel needn't tell him to get his act together. He knew what was expected of him in light of the warning, and he had some business to take care of. As the Arrangement would not wait for him to get back to his duties, Shansmaer had a job to do today, and it had to be today. It was more of a personal task than anything else, but, regardless, it needed to get done. There was an invasion of his domain occurring, and he had every intention of making it stop. He didn't like demons stepping all over his territory.
As the angel of chance, he considered a majority of the city his responsibility; drug deals occurred everywhere, and God knew how quickly they could turn south. There were poker matches and other games like such in the undeground, since casinos had pretty much failed out in Chorazin because of how easy they were to capture and take hsotages and money from. It was even quite common to find Russian roulette, though, really, it was now just called roulette because if you lost you were practically dead anyways. It wasn't worth it to gamble, Shansmaer knew. That's what he was for - a sort of warning against bad luck. He had to let all those thrill-seeking humans know that gambling was literally betting your life, and that never turned out well.
The Seraph was in his pure form, his six eyes scanning and acknowledging every probability as he scanned the recent trails of the demon. Ah, so the one I'm looking for is in the Pits today... How fortunate, I don't even have to go out of my way to give her a nice, friendly ass-kicking. The invisible being skimmed over the ground, his armored body fading into nothingness towards the earth, revealing many of the veins glowing with golden energy beneath his skin. Four of the jaggedly feathered wings behind him were curled against his back, though the two lowest wings were extended towards the ground, acting as balances of sorts and brushing winds of chance that flitted about like leaves around him.
The Hellmouth was not far - Shansmaer and Carly actually lived relatively close to it, which, in some ways, was incredibly dangerous, since a majority of the "bad people" of Chorazin gravitated toward that wicked power so they themselves had the chance to Transfigure and inherit such power. It actually made Shansmaer's job a little easier, since he knew where all of those at risk were and barely had to leave the house to find someone whose fate needed a bit of pushing in the proper direction. It was funny: with Shansmaer's job, the right direction often involved having someone fall right on their metaphorical ass and sink down to the very bottom so they realized the only way for things to get better was to rely on God. Awesome how he got to be a bad guy himself, right?
Shansmaer made his way past the Citadel building, where he'd been not too long ago - less than a month, he believed it was, but he hadn't really kept track. Azrael - or, rather, Garrett - was probably inside working away to try to mess up whatever Sammael's plans were at the moment. Shansmaer felt that his advice had been a bit less than useful, seeing as he had no details or warnings to go off of and merely had to rely on a gut feeling alone. He was sort of good with that kind of thing, though, so at least Azrael knew to ne on his toes until the feeling changed. It hadn't, though Shansmaer could feel a bit of turmoil on the demons' side as well. Then again, it had always felt like that, so that was nothing new. Demons were kind of good at turmoil, so he shouldn't be too concerned. Chorazin had just gotten a whole lot more sinister since the introduction of so many uncontrollable variables.
That was irrelevant, though, he had a job to do. The Seraph could see the Hellmouth from where he was now, and with a quick unfurl and flap of his six wings, he had arrived at it and slipped through its negatively energized barrier. His entrance was met by many startled - and an equally many absolutely infuriated - reactions. For an angel to enter their domain? How dare he? Who gave a damn what they felt, though? The Seraphim's sweet and cheerful voice called in a gentle hum, "Listen to me, you wicked things, I am looking for a horny black cat with crooked wings. Is the creature somewhere within this room?" Immediately hundreds of gnarled fingers and stumps pointed to a corner, and Shansmaer dipped his head as he made his way in their direction. "This should be over soon."
